Charlotte at 11
Charlotte seems to be maturing right before my eyes these days. She’s interested in make-up, she has a crush on a boy, she actually thinks about what she wears to school. She has even started remembering to brush her hair occasionally without being asked.
Charlotte is in the 5th grade. This year they’re studying US History and her teacher is a US History enthusiast which makes learning about it really fun. Charlotte does well academically and enjoys school.
Charlotte loves to draw and is getting quite good at pencil drawings. Her school work often comes home covered in doodles.
Charlotte LOVES animals of every kind. Her current obsession is foxes, especially fennec foxes. She has been on a fruitless quest to convince us to get a pet fennec fox for months. Her dream is to be an animal rescuer when she grows up. Whenever we go anywhere she stops to fawn over and pet every cat and dog she sees.
Charlotte loves nature and adventures. She especially enjoys exploring new places. When we lived in Seattle, there were woods by our house and Charlotte would spend hours exploring in the woods as often as she could. She still talks about how much she misses having a forest nearby. Over the summer she hiked to the summit of Mount Timpanogos with us. It was a really difficult hike, but she has a determined spirit and kept going till the she made it all the way to the summit and back.
Charlotte enjoys reading. She read through the first six books of the Harry Potter series this year and is in the middle of the last book. She loves the idea of magic and claims to expect an invitation to Hogwarts before Jr. High. She’s also been reading through collections of Calvin and Hobbs comics.
Charlotte is the ringleader of her sisters. Whatever she’s into, her sisters become interested in as well. They both look up to her and seek her approval regularly. Charlotte is a good big sister and shows her sisters kindnesses regularly.
Charlotte is still taking piano lessons. She gets better and better every year. She wants to be done learning piano and is petitioning to trade piano lessons for horse riding lessons.
