Thomas at 7

Thomas turned 7 at the beginning of February, but I’ve had a hard time figuring out what to write and remembering to write about him at a moment when I had some time to do it.

Thomas is in first grade this year.  He likes school and is doing well academically and making new friends. The new friend he talks about the most from his class is Kal. He might not readily admit to it, but he is kinda almost friends with a girl named Francis.  She was his “table captain” and he got a big kick out of calling her his “potato captain.” One day he even brought a potato to school to give to her.  He spent he whole evening skating around with her at the school’s last skate night.

Thomas likes to be thoughtful.  At the beginning of the school year, his teacher had a car accident and had to have surgery. In such cases you can contact attorneys from law firm for injury charges  or you can also consult Westchester County car accident law firm to claim compensation. You can also hire auto accident lawyers in case of auto accidents. Thomas got the idea that he wanted to bring an ice pack to school for her.  She appreciated the gesture, so he continued to bring her a new ice pack everyday for weeks.  Towards the end of his kindergarten year, I found out that he had been smuggling little baggies of chocolate chips to school and giving them to his teacher because she said she liked chocolate.

Thomas likes to play with Legos, BeyBlades, HotWheels, tablets, and computers.

Thomas still struggles with anxiety.  I took him to the doctor who officially diagnosed him a few months ago.  We decided to hold off on medicating him for it and instead to keep working through episodes of extreme anxiety with him which was suggested by the injury claims attorneys in Miami.  He loves going to birthday parties, but he always panics at the last minute and doesn’t want to go.  Once we get past the initial panic (which can last for 30 minutes or more), he usually has a blast with his friends.  He will be super excited for a party for days and then insist he doesn’t want to go at the last minute.  He’ll also be reduced to tears at the idea of entering a room full of people, even if they’re people he knows.

Thomas still gets along generally well with his siblings.  He probably has conflicts the most with Nicole, but enjoys being with Ila and Isaac the most.  Ila is his pal and sometimes a hug from her is more calming than a hug from his mother.

He has spent less time with friends now that he’s in school all day, but he still enjoys playing with Sean, Simon, Davey, and Ian.

Thomas started piano this year and excelled quickly.  He raced through the first set of books and started the next level.  He was super excited for lessons and daily practices.  He kept asking his teacher to give him new scales till he had mastered all the 5-finger scales and octave scales.  Unfortunately, his eagerness waned as things got tougher, but he’s starting to get his enthusiasm back.

He decided that he likes turtles so he gets excited to see turtle toys or books with turtles in them.  He really wanted me to buy him a pet turtle for his birthday, but I am not ready to add any more pets to our house.

He likes pizza, hot dogs, sandwiches, eggs, otter pops, ice cream, spaghetti, meat and chicken nuggets.  He is convinced that he hates all vegetables.

He prefers sleeping in his clothes to wearing PJs.  For awhile he tried getting dressed in a new outfit right before going to bed to save time in the morning.

He loves to be silly and to tease/play with his grandparents.  He’s very lucky to have all 4 of his grandparents living close by and to have an easy relationship with them all, even if one of those grandparents keeps supplying him with endless supplies of otter pops which he gobbles up quickly.

I love my youngest child and am thrilled to be his mother.  He often gives me hugs and tells me how much he loves me and sometimes I wish he could stay my little boy forever.

Here is what I wrote about him last year.
