The Bumbo

I bought a Bumbo when Nicole was a baby and I was desperate for a way to put her down and have her remain happy. She wasn’t happy with the swing, or bouncer, or lying on her back and as it turned out, she wasn’t particularly thrilled with the Bumbo either and I thought that perhaps it was a gimmicky waste of money.  She was content enough in it a few times. 9.7.08 Nicole (1)   However, Ila is definitely helping me get my money’s worth out of it.

There are times when Ila will not be happy in her bouncer, swing, or laying down, but she will be happy in the bumbo.4.24.10 Ila It has replaced my old method for keeping her happy while I cook dinner or clean the kitchen4.7.10 Ila (5)I often use the Bumbo when I want to use the computer while she’s awake.  I’m pitifully slow typing one handed while holding a baby.  Luckily, she’s usually content for a little while to sit there and have me talk to her periodically as I use my computer.

I use it while I do laundry.2.11.10 Ila (7)

She even fell asleep in it the other day! 4.24.10 Ila (1)

She even sat in it for half of the time I took to type this blog!

“gimmicky waste of money” is exactly how i have felt about my bebe pod chair (knockoff of the bumbo) but it’s nice to see that some babies actually do like them. it’s funny how what you buy for one child fails and then can totally save you with the next kid. at least when you have more than one kid you can figure at some point you’re gonna get your money’s worth out of some things!
