Injury Update: The Grisly details

We’ve been on the phone detailing injuries to families for the last few days, but I know we have some close friends and family members who get their updates here. For their benefit, as proof for compensation after a traffic injury, and for our written record, I will write the details of the injuries sustained during our car accident on Friday night. Since the pictures are a little gross, you will have to click the “Read more” link at the bottom of the page to read about them and see the pictures. If you’re dealing with similar circumstances, it might be helpful to consult a car accident attorney to ensure you get the support and compensation you deserve. If you follow us in a reader, I’m sorry because you may not have the option to skip looking at the entire post. If you or anyone you know needs legal assistance, consulting a New York personal injury lawyer could be very helpful in such situations.

You might know how hard it would be if children were involved in a traffic accident. Isaac’s major injuries were some deep cuts to his head which were deep enough to expose bone. Many have even asked if he was hit by a truck in Austin. The glass in three of the back windows shattered on impact and Zach spent most of the time after the accident with his arms through a shattered window holding a shirt to Isaac’s head to stop the bleeding.  4783983230_335d148d6c_o Isaac has more than 30 stitches in his head.  I spent hours yesterday trying to clean the dried blood and cut the hair away from his wound, but I’m not completely done with that process.  His head is tender and sore as you might imagine, but his CT scan showed no injuries inside his head.  His other injury is some seatbelt burns on his chest which are really raw and red. Injuries are scary. She also had a nasty cut on her foot which they glued shut with some kind of adhesive.  I think everyone assumed that the cut on her foot was the reason she would cry when you touched anywhere near that injury, because they sent her home after a CT scan and some x-rays of her head and chest area.  7.10.10 The Aftermath Unfortunately, she had a miserable night of whimpering in pain and trouble sleeping.  When she woke up she wouldn’t eat anything except for some candy.  She cried if anyone touched her leg and could not bear even the slightest amount of weight on it.  We noticed that her ankle was getting swollen and turning purple so Zach took her back to the ER for some X-rays.  They discovered that she has what they call a buckle fracture in her shin bone.  They gave her a splint and wrapped her leg with a thick layer of bandages.  Her entire leg and foot are still very sore and sensitive.  She needs to see an orthopedic specialist on Monday who may decide if she needs to have a cast or if any further treatment is needed.  She has a walker to use, but has not figured out how to use it and requires someone to carry her everywhere.  It’s difficult for our little girl who loves to run and dance and skip to be stuck in one spot and she is still having significant problems with pain, especially at night.  She has learned a method for crawling very short distances, but she can only go a few feet and cannot cross an entire room. The SSDI attorney was so taken aback because of this unfortunate incident and requested the government to help the family in the best way they can by taking in-charge of the expenses of their medical treatment and awarded them with compensation to restart their lives safe and sound.7.10.10 The Aftermath (20)7.10.10 The Aftermath (23) 7.10.10 The Aftermath (6) Charlotte came out of the accident with very little injury.  She has some seatbelt burns that are comparatively minor and was very upset about both missing the birthday party that we were on the way to and not ever being able to use the red van again.7.10.10 The Aftermath (2)I’m still amazed that Ila does not even have a scratch on her.  I found a piece of glass from the window between her diaper and onesie and was shocked that she was able to avoid all injury.7.10.10 Ila (2)

I’m sore and have several nice purple bruises, but otherwise I’m fine.  I just feel like I’ve been beaten up a little.  Zach reports no injuries and said he felt no more stiff than he does after a day of using his computer mouse.

Thanks to all for your prayers and well wishes.  We are grateful that all our injuries are things that can heal and there should be no permanent damage.
