Nicole’s First Bus Ride
Nicole was very excited for her first bus ride on Monday. I had heard a rumor that the preschool bus provided door to door service which I was very excited about. It turns out, they pick up and drop off at the same spot as my other kids. She was assigned to Isaac and Charlotte’s morning bus, which meant she got to sit next to her big sister for her first bus ride ever.
Here she is getting on the bus:
She switches buses at Isaac and Charlotte’s school. I drove to the school after she got on the bus so that I could take a picture and help her with her first bus transition:The bus that takes her to her school has seatbelts for each of the kids:I’m not thrilled with the bus situation. There’s about 10 minutes at the school when she is suppose to sit on the first bus with her bus driver until her 2nd bus comes, but I’m worried that she’ll have a hard time staying on the bus when her siblings get off and I’m a little uncomfortable with her sitting on a bus by herself with a man I don’t know very well.
This week I tried driving all the kids to the school and parking so that I could walk her to her second bus, but there’s no good place to park because of parents dropping off their kids and the lower parking lot having no ramps for my stroller. We still haven’t worked out exactly what our regular pattern will be. On Thursday, Zach took the big kids to school and I took Nicole directly to her school.
Her bus ride home is a little long, but my main problem with it is that it comes to the bus stop right in the middle of Thomas’s nap and the bus stop is far enough away that I feel uncomfortable leaving Thomas home while I go pick her up.
