Isaac’s 9th Birthday Party
I threw a small party for Isaac on the Saturday before his birthday. He wanted a military themed party.
I made some simple invitations for him to pass out to whomever he choose. He gave the first one to Charlotte’s best friend, Ander, at recess. He invited one boy from his class at school and two boys from scouts. The night before the party, he helped me make cupcakes. I let him follow the box directions to make white cake batter and yellow cake batter. Then we followed a recipe for a homemade chocolate cake batter.
We used food coloring to make the white cake batter green:Then we dripped a combination of all three into each cupcake paper in order to approximate a camouflage colored cupcake. I made buttercream frosting and melted some green chocolates into an army symbol mold. They made gliders:Practiced shooting Nerf guns at some targets that Isaac taped to the wall. They divided into teams and used blocks and army guys to set up a bases. When they were finished building, they attacked each other’s bases. Which ever base had the most guys standing at the end was declared the winner:Then we dropped little parachute guys from the window:They got to make and eat a MRE:Then we had cupcakes:Isaac opened the gifts from his friends:Then they had a water grenade battle:They ended with a Nerf battle that started outside and then moved inside:
This is wonderful! He is a lucky boy to have a creative mother like you!
