March ends and April begins, with a little bit of silliness

Charlotte has adopted some of Nicole’s sense of style.  Charlotte rarely wears jeans anymore.  She started raiding Nicole’s closet which meant she kept trying to wear dresses and skirts that were too small on her, so I had to go out and buy Charlotte some more casual dresses and skirts to wear to school.  I have a rule that they have to have sleeves and wear either shorts or “skirt pants” (leggings) under their skirts or dresses:

I’ve continued making improvements to our house.  This week I painted some walls in the bathroom and then added some stickers to the wall:

We had strawberry ice cream and Thomas said “mmm, ice cream” with every bite.  The other kids thought it was so funny.  They would giggle and say it with him, which just made Thomas smile.

Ila refused to try the ice cream.  She had chocolate chips instead.

Thomas surprised me this week by learning how to use the computer mouse.  He regularly has trouble clicking the right button, but he can now move the little arrow across the screen to where he wants it and then click.

I tried to add a little fun to April Fool’s day this year.  I glued eyes to things in the pantry:

I think the kids thought it was funny.

Just before the kids came home on the school bus, I borrowed a kitten from a neighbor and pretended we had a new kitten.  This one even shocked Zach who was trying to be nice about the whole thing:

For dinner I made cupcake shaped meatloaf:

and blue potatoes:

So it looked like I was serving cupcakes for dinner:

The kids all enjoy giving the cats a treat:

Charlotte striking a pose in dress-ups.  The girls pretended they were doing ballet class.  They even lined up some dolls to participate in the class:

I finally hung something on our blank kitchen wall.  I got a big dry erase board which I’m using to help the kids memorize scriptures and other important information.

Isaac and Charlotte had soccer on Saturday.  Unfortunately, only about half of Isaac’s team has shown up for the games.  Isaac’s team had 5 players while the other team had about 12.  Luckily they were nice and lent us a goalie and then played less players on the field.  At Isaac’s Thursday game, they only had 5 players and the other team played a full team of 8 against them.

Thomas thought it was funny to climb on Charlotte for a ride.  And then my camera battery ran out before I could take any pictures of her game or the rest of Isaac’s game.

My kids love visiting the widow next door, especially Ila.  I’d like to think it’s because she’s such a sweet lady, but I know the candy dishes she keeps well stocked probably have a lot to do with their almost daily desire to visit.

Thomas loves anything with wheels.  He pulled Isaac’s scooter all the way around the block on our most recent walk.

The usual chickens we visit were not out, so we had to observe some other chickens nearby.  Chickens are an important part of our walk.

The kids remembered that they have Lincoln logs the last few days and have enjoyed being creative with them:

Thomas never plays with dolls, so I thought it was adorable when he decided to pretend to be a daddy today and I took a lot of pictures:

Here he is pointing out the doll’s nose:

I tried to help him by turning the doll around, but he turned it back so that it faced the pillow.
