The week of Easter 2014
I’m late on my weekly picture share post, but it’s been a busy week this week.
On Monday, I spent the day in Salt Lake with Nicole for her Neuropsychological testing. That evening we went out as a family to pick out some things to plant. Here are all the kids in the car with our new apple tree:
The kids played with bubbles while Zach and his dad prepared a place to plant it:
Meanwhile, in another part of the yard:
On Tuesday we started some seeds indoors:
Sometimes Thomas gets mad when I get him dressed, so he bites his shirt. On Tuesday he was mad because he wanted to put laundry in the dryer, not take it out–so he bit a sock in anger:
Here’s a picture of Nicole playing on Wednesday. She likes to line things up and then painstakingly advance the line, object by object:
I asked Nicole if they were dancing now, she said “no, they are kissing and turning around.”
First she tried to ride the bicycle and scooter at the same time, then she tried two scooters together. Neither idea was successful:
Thomas eating oranges. I can’t always tell you why I take the pictures I take. Maybe it was his insistence on using a fork to eat the oranges (see next picture).
Thomas rediscovered this toy and was very amused by it. I love his little happy face!
Ignore the unflattering picture of me which I share reluctantly. Thomas insisted on holding my hand as I mowed the lawn. At one point, Ila held onto the lower bar as I mowed and both kids “helped” at the same time:
Coloring Easter Eggs on Friday night (I put Thomas to bed first):
Coloring eggs always turns into eating eggs:
For the last two years, Ila has decided that she actually wants to try a hard-boiled egg. She tries so few foods that I don’t want to discourage her, but each year she’s only gotten one lick in before she changed her mind:
Saturday Morning Piano recital. Isaac was suppose to preform too, but I didn’t’ realize he didn’t have his songs fully memorized and we left his piano books at home:
Saturday Afternoon Soccer games:
Making a box arcade, one of my least favorite activities. I threw it away the other day and they still haven’t noticed.
The Easter Bunny came, but went a little light this year. Just one small gift and some candy. We’ve got the kids convinced that their grandma (who is named Bunny) turns into a bunny every year and hops around delivering candy. Each year she sends some letters for the kids in the mail and I lay the letters next their loot in order to perpetuate the myth:
I may or may not have forged her name on a white board Easter greeting:
Thomas didn’t quite get the concept of collecting the candy in a bag. Instead he just happily ate candy when he saw it:
Everyone tried out Charlotte’s new Easter markers:
Ila was so happy and excited. She jumps around when she’s excited and it’s really cute:
Naturally, Thomas applied his candy to trucks:
With all the candy around, none of my kids even requested breakfast and I didn’t feed them any:
Can you believe I didn’t take a single picture of my five kids all dressed up for Easter? The three girls wore their big white Easter hats. Ila was a little disappointed that more people didn’t comment on how lovely her hat was. After church, the girls wanted to melt some of their chocolate:
So, they ate candy again for lunch. At least I gave them actual food for dinner, right?
A dear friend and neighbor who has been dealing with the stress of going back to school and divorce and custody battles had completely forgotten to get her kids anything for Easter. When we heard from the kids that the Easter Bunny hadn’t come, my sisters-in-law and I hatched a plan where we became the Easter Bunny. That night we got a very sweet text from our dear friend thanking us for what we had done, it was the perfect way to end our Easter day.
