Thomas’s 3rd Birthday
Thomas started off his special day with a muffin. I think Isaac gave it to hims while I was showering. By the time I saw him with it, it only faintly resembled a muffin.
I made everyone orange Julius, eggs, bacon and toast. Thomas rejected the bacon, but enjoyed the orange Julius, eggs and toast. The fist gift we gave him was a set of plasma cars. I had purchased them as Christmas gifts, but forgotten about them on Christmas Eve so we decided to give them both to Thomas so he’d have one to share. He enjoyed riding outside as the older kids waited for the bus.Thomas drove his car to his best friend’s house next door and was sad that his friend wasn’t ready to play. I had a hard time talking him into leaving the doorstep.
Thomas gave me very specific directions on where he wanted me to walk on our way home. He pointed to each spot he wanted me to step. Ila and Thomas both helped me make a birthday cake for Thomas.Thomas kept sampling the batter.I let him crack his first egg with assistance. His friend, Ian arrived as we were finishing up the cake. Thomas wanted to lick the beater as he rode his car around the house.
Soon Ian and Ila joined him in riding around the house. They spent the entire morning riding around and having such fun. We had birthday lunch at Chick-fil-A and the kids all enjoyed the play place. After eating a few nuggets, Ila and Thomas ran off to play while Ian stayed to eat more of his lunch. Ila and Thomas would stop in periodically to fill their mouths up with chicken before heading back in to play. We spent several hours there, but I still had to coax the kids away from the playplace. Next we bought some balloons. I gave the kids a ride in the fancy red car inside the store. We also stopped to buy ice cream. Ila talked Thomas into choosing Chocolate ice cream. Thomas fell asleep on the way home. Ian went to the store with his mom while we made frosting for the cake. Thomas had woken up quite grumpy from his little nap and was still being a grump when Ian came back with a present. It took him a little while to even look at Ian’s gift. When he did finally look at the special hot wheels cars that Ian had picked out for him he cheered up.
The kids all came home from school. Thomas went over to play at Ian’s house while I frosted his birthday cake. Then we gathered all the children and took them to Jump on It. I have lots more pictures to share, but for the purpose of this post, here are just a few of Thomas: When we got home, Thomas opened the rest of his gifts.Zach had to leave for an appointment. Thomas played with his new toys and we ate pizza while he was gone. Thomas and Ila ate some of the leftover black frosting from Thomas’s cake. Thomas was very amused by how black his tongue looked. He laughed when he looked in the mirror.Grandma, Grandpa, and Laresa came over for cake and ice cream when Zach got home.
By the time we were done with cake and ice cream it was late so we put all the kids in bed. And for those of you wondering, Thomas did finally accept that he turned 3.
