On one of the last days of the timeswap, Isaac needed to do a current event the old fashioned way. He actually quite enjoyed reading the newspaper. He kept finding stories that intrigued him.
I bought these socks for my girls because they remind me of my mother (and because they were super cheap with an after Easter markdown).
It has been quite rainy in Utah lately.
This was Nicole the day after her birthday. She was asking, “don’t my lips look beautiful?”
Here she is taking her first ride with her new helmet, bike purse, wings, necklace, bracelet, and wand.
The postman was late delivering the card from her grandmother, so Nicole got to open her last gift a few days after her birthday.
Isaac enjoys making things out of boxes. On this particular day, he wanted to make Thomas a car.
Ila was jealous of Nicole’s new birthday wand so Charlotte made one for Ila out of a tension rod and some colored paper.
Then Charlotte made Thomas a car wand.
Thomas kept trying to drive his car wand:
You can’t see it under the crown, but Nicole was being a mother owl with her two little owl babies and a light saber for some reason.
The kids really enjoyed helping me make orange and raspberry sherbet cookies.
Zach told them the story of Lehi’s dream and had them practice clinging to the Iron Rod with all their might.
Nicole’s class went on a fishing field trip.
Nicole came home and immediately asked if she could keep her fish as a pet. I had to stop her as she headed towards her room and explain to her that the fish was dead. She said “They removed it’s guts, but it’s still alive because, see it’s eyes. There are no X’s in it’s eyes!”
Luckily I prevailed in convincing her that the fish is actually dead and the best thing to do with it is to eat it. She brought it over to her grandparents’ house and Grandpa agreed to cook it for her.
It’s a little surprising how fast she could go from wanting to keep it as a pet to watching her grandpa remove it’s head and fry it up.
She loved it and ate it all up, except for the taste she allowed her mother and grandfather.
Since learning to ride a bike, Isaac has been spending some time trying to make modifications to his bicycle.
This is our neighbor who said he was “girl trapped.”
Charlotte and Isaac preformed in a piano recital. They both did well. Charlotte was nervous on her first song. Her second song was a duet with her aunt. Unfortunately my pictures didn’t turn out well, but you get the idea.
Speaking of pour picture quality, the combination of low lighting, lots of movement, and an unskilled photographer meant that I didn’t get any wonderful pictures of the kids learning to skate. We took the older 3 to a surprise birthday party for one of Zach’s friends.
All three of them gave good effort, fell down, and got a little bit better at skating. These things helped them not fall down as often:
