The last week of May 2015
It’s been a busy week as you can see by the 72 photos I decided to share. I took 277 pictures, so I’m only sharing about 1/4 of the pictures I took this week.
Monday was Memorial day. The children picked out places for the stepping stones they made last week and we put them in the ground.
Heidi told them they could put them in Grandma’s flower bed or place them at home. Nicole was the only one to take hers home.
It’s been raining a lot lately and Thomas can’t resist splashing in puddles:
Ila can’t resist either:
Thomas wore holes in all his shoes by using them as brakes when he rides his wiggle cars. I do have one pair of his shoes that I won’t let him ride in because they’re the only ones without holes.
Thomas wanted to be my helper, so I let him wash his fingerprints off the sliding glass door:
Zach and his dad designed and built a bike storage area to free up some space in our shed. This is the before picture:
Isaac helped with the project.
Thomas thought the saw was noisy.
Thomas was also curious about the open hood on Daddy’s car.
Here’s the completed bike storage shed. They hung tarps to keep the bikes dry and Zach installed some solar powered motion lights.
Here’s the inside view. We may ad hooks for helmets and a method to lock up the bikes later.
On Monday evening, we had the family of Charlotte’s best friend over for a BBQ. Thomas loves babies so as soon as he saw Ethan, he sat down to play with him.
Thomas was very excited when he found out that Davie was also 3.
For Webelos, we started a woodworking project. Zach’s dad let us use his tools and helped the boys with their project. I just took lots of pictures because that’s what I do.
I can’t tell you how much I love these pictures of Isaac working with his Dad and Grandpa.
Meanwhile, Nicole was inside pretending to be a bumble bee. She was disappointed when I took her home because we didn’t have the proper buckets to dress like a bumble bee again.
Thomas couldn’t resist more puddles. He was born near Seattle, so it’s in his blood:
I took a picture of the clock because Thomas was arguing with me about the time. He was insisting that it was 2 O’clock because of the hand pointing to the 2. When I tried to point out the other hand and explain the time, he insisted that the 7 was broken.
These are his favorite pajamas. He calls them his “slippery pajamas” because his feet slide sometimes when he walks on the hardhood floors in them. They’re hand-me-downs from his best friend and they have holes in the toes, but he loves them.
On Wednesday morning was the dance festival at the school. Ila and Thomas joined me in the audience. Luckily a cloud moved over the sun just before the performance started so that the sun was no longer in our eyes.
My camera started acting up so I wasn’t able to record videos of my kids this year. Here is Nicole getting ready to dance.
Charlotte in her starting position.
Isaac dancing with his class.
After the dance festival, I took the littlest two home to ride bikes.
Our neighbor came over and rode with them and then spent most of the day with them.
Thomas demanded that I take a picture of his “owie.”
Our roses are starting to open up. These ones were my favorite last year. We planted more rose bushes this year. I’m excited to see them all bloom.
I can’t remember what Nicole said that she was dressed as. Maybe a crazy-eyed-mouse-witch?
It has been so convenient having the bus stop at my house this year and it has been fun to see all the kids out playing in the street as they wait for the bus. I put two soccer balls out in the yard at the beginning of the school year and they’re now falling apart from use.
I took Ila and Thomas over to have Oreos with their grandpa while I went over to take pictures of field day at the school because I have this weird desire to photograph every thing my kids do.
I didn’t get any pictures of Charlotte doing field day activities because her class participated in the morning. They were all in the gym watching a video collection of pictures.
Nicole’s class had a competition to see which class could get the most cheese balls on their classmate’s head. The classmate wore a shower cap covered in shaving cream.
I did catch up with Charlotte and her BFF Alyssa as they walked over to the park with their class for popsicles.
After Field day, a firetruck came to cool off all the children. I really wanted to get a picture of my kids being sprayed with water from a fire-hose, but there were too many children and no clear shot. Here’s a video I took:
We took some time to dance in the morning before sending the kids off to their last day of school.
They had a short day, school lasted for one and a half hours.
After school we all went over to Charlotte’s best friend’s house for pancakes and water fun.
I did get some sunblock on the younger kids, but the older ones got some bright red sunburns.
After Zach got home from work, we picked up a few plants and Isaac helped his dad plant some peppers and tomatoes in the garden.
Zach bribed Ila to eat a bite of pizza in exchange for a Popsicle and she actually did it, although she didn’t enjoy it.
On Saturday, Zach added some irrigation for the new plants.
The children had some fun playing in water again.
We finished the day at Macey’s for ice cream with Grandma and Grandpa.
